SmartMarkdown provides free, browser-based tools for converting documents and files to Markdown format, editing Markdown, and related document processing tasks. The Service is provided "as is" without any warranty or guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Permitted Use

You may use SmartMarkdown for:

  • Converting your own documents to Markdown format
  • Editing and formatting Markdown content
  • Any lawful personal, commercial, or educational document processing purpose

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to interfere with, disable, or disrupt the Service or its servers
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the Service in a manner that creates excessive load

Intellectual Property

The SmartMarkdown brand, website design, tool interfaces, and original content (including documentation and tool descriptions) are the intellectual property of SmartMarkdown and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

Files you process using SmartMarkdown remain your property. We claim no rights over the content of documents you convert using our tools.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be available at all times or without interruption
  • Conversion output will be error-free or identical to the original document's formatting
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SMARTMARKDOWN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF SMARTMARKDOWN HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SmartMarkdown and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
